Choose from our stable of Milwaukee chrome and steel chariots, or bring your own bike to ride this spectacular tour, which takes you through 2000 years of fascinating history. Soak up the heraldic atmosphere of bygone times, while staying in an imposing medieval castle. Ride through the scenic mountains of the Cumbrian Lake District, and the rolling countryside and unspoilt coastal routes of Northumberland and North Yorkshire.
Day 1 'Meet at Newcastle Harley-Davidson, then we'll ride along Newcastle’s lively quayside and across the famous Tyne Bridge before passing Gormley’s Angel of the North, on our way to our base for the next three nights. www.lumleycastle.com Approx 35 miles.Day 2 Today we will ride the beautiful Northumbrian countryside, following in the footsteps of the Romans along Hadrian’s Wall, and crossing through the Pennines into Cumbria and the majestic Lake District. We’ll skirt the edges of Ullswater, Windermere and Coniston Water, and explore some of the pretty towns and villages with their characteristic lakeland stone buildings. Approx 225 miles.
Day 3 We’re in the Land of the Prince Bishops this morning, with a ride through Durham, renowned for it’s beautiful cathedral and university buildings. Heading into North Yorkshire, we’ll ride along the coast through Saltburn-by-the-Sea, then have a stop in the picturesque fishing port of Whitby. The fabulous biking roads of the North York Moors National Park will take us to Goathland, the pretty little village where TV’s ‘Heartbeat’ is filmed. Castle Howard is another famous filming location we’ll visit in the area, remember ‘Brideshead Revisited’? There’ll be time for a trip around York’s old city walls before we start heading back for the evening. Approx 210 miles.
Day 4 Breakfasting like kings in our castle for sadly the last time on this tour, we’ll pack our things for the ride back to Newcastle, to return the bikes. If you’ve enjoyed this trip, why not check out our other short breaks? Approx 35 miles.
