Thunder in the Glens

Ride Northumberland’s unspoilt coastal route and cross the border into Bonnie Scotland. Based in Aviemore for the Thunder in the Glens Rally, and ideally situated to explore the glens, lochs and mountains of the beautiful Scottish Highlands.
Day 1 9am Meet at Newcastle Harley-Davidson dealership, then we’ll ride up the coastal route via the spectacular castles of Warkworth, Alnwick, (used in the Harry Potter films), Bamburgh and Chilingham, reputed to be the most haunted castle in England. Crossing the River Tweed into Scotland, we travel northwards into Edinburgh, where we’ll stay the night in our comfortable city centre hotel. www.hilton.co.uk/caledonian Approx 120 miles.
Day 2 After a full Scottish breakfast, we’ll ride up into the Highlands, with a stop at Balmoral Castle, the Queens favourite residence, on the way. Across the beautiful biking roads of the Spittal of Glenshee winter skiing region, we’ll take in a whisky distillery before continuing on to our Aviemore hotel, ideally situated for the increasingly popular Thunder in the Glens Rally. Day 3 Free day to enjoy the Rally. There are optional ride outs organised by the local HOG Chapters, trade stalls, custom bike show, Chapter Games, and not forgetting cracking bands for your evening entertainment.
Day 4 Another free day to enjoy the Rally, or ride out and explore this beautiful part of the Highlands. Why not join us on a ride to Loch Ness, in search of the famous Nessie!
Day 5 Homeward bound today, riding south across the famous Forth Road Bridge with a lunch stop in picturesque Queensferry. We’ll return to Newcastle at around 4pm.
